We are one of a very few veterinarians in NW Florida who have a state wildlife rehabilitator’s license. People find orphaned baby squirrels, baby birds, baby opossums, even baby deer, and bring to us to raise and release.
For
example, we were given 31 baby squirrels after a small hurricane passed through
a few years ago. Sometimes, the wild
animal is not a orphaned and abandoned baby but is injured—a blue jay with broken wing, a turtle that has
been hit by a car, or waterfowl that has been shot.
We take them all at no charge to the
wonderful people who rescue these poor creatures. Donations are always welcome, but the vast
majority of wildlife care expense is provided by Dr. Jenny without any
assistance from government funds.

RABIES ALERT: If you find a bat or raccoon of
any age (including babies) and handle it to bring it to us, we will be forced
to euthanize it and send a specimen off to a state lab to determine if it has
rabies. Please do not handle bats or
raccoons, and exercise caution when handling any other wildlife. (Also see our Rabies page)
