Every day, dogs and cats
are euthanized. “It is a tragic but true
fact that over half of animals that enter our nation’s shelters are
euthanized”, states ASPCA President Dr. Larry Hawk (as quoted on the ASPCA
website, November 1, 2001).
In
Okaloosa County alone, 900 dogs and cats are euthanized every year. While we can’t save every one, we save those
we can by accepting puppies and kittens into our adoption center. In 2003, we adopted out 150 puppies and 124
kittens. After passing a physical and
being accepted, the puppies and kittens are neutered or spayed, the kittens are
tested for feline AIDS and Leukemia, are de-wormed for hookworms, roundworms,
and whipworms, and given all their age appropriate vaccinations. We then provide them to loving homes for only
$77.25 plus tax, after investing over $200 in their pre-adoption care. We accept puppies and kittens into the
adoption center by appointment only.

In addition to the adoption center, the
retail store at Paw Prints offers a wide selection of Hill’s Science Diet®,
Prescription Diet®, Royal Canine®, and Nutro® canine and feline food, as well as food for reptiles, birds,
and pocket pets. We also have stock
collars, leashes, a large variety of other pet care products, cages, travel bags, and a huge
selection of toys and treats.
